7/26/11 – Garrard Haters
A big deal has been made about rookie quarterback Blaine Gabbert arriving at 7:45 a.m. at Jaguars headquarters on the first day players could report. The reports don’t praise Gabbert as much as they criticize veteran QB David Garrard not being there first.
I’m tired of Garrard getting hammered by so many for not being a hard worker. The criticism actually started two offseasons ago when owner Wayne Weaver and Coach Jack Del Rio casually talked about Garrard needing to be more of leader by example.
It should be obvious by now that Garrard is, at best, a slightly above average quarterback. But his lack of stardom isn’t because of a lack of effort. It’s about inaccuracy and a lack of instincts all great QBs have.
So get off Garrard’s back. Some criticism he doesn’t deserve.
