6/1/11 – Kudos All Around

The unofficial start of summer is a feel good time for most of us. School’s out. Vacation time is near. The beaches beckon. The grills work overtime.

Count me among the happy bunch. I’m even feeling nice . . . so what better time than toss out some attaboys?

Kudos to the JU baseball team. Coach Terry Alexander does a wonderful job and he has his Dolphins in the NCAA tournament as an at-large selection.

Pats on the back to race car drivers Dale Earnhardt Jr. and JR Hildebrand . Both were incredibly gracious losers after final lap miscues cost them major victories. Hildebrand crashed in the final turn while appearing to seconds away from winning the Indy 500. Junior ran out of gas only seconds before he would have won the Coca Cola 600. There was no whining; no finger pointing. Just racin’.

A bit delayed, I’ll admit, but thumbs up to David Toms, who won at Colonial seven days after his gut-wrenching loss in a playoff in The Players. Good guys do finish first sometimes.
