Football season is over. A lot of you are feeling all doom and loom.

Not me. I love football season but I’m ready for a break. Like mama used to say, there is such a thing as too much of a good thing. Besides, I love some of the other seasons, too.

April, in fact, is my favorite sports month. It starts off with the NCAA Final Four. Then there’s the start of the Major League Baseball season and the Masters. The NFL draft is an added bonus.

I love February. There’s the Super Bowl and the Daytona 500. College basketball’s regular- season is in the stretch run. National signing day and pitchers and catchers reporting are bonuses. March ranks high on my list because of the NCAA basketball tournament (March Madness) and MLB’s spring training. June is a wonderful sports month because of the U.S. Open golf championship and the NBA Final – and, yeah, I do enjoy Wimbledon.

Worst month? Easily July. The British Open is the highlight and it’s played in the middle of the night.

Here’s my ranking of the sports months with their highlights:

1. April — (see above)

2. January — The NFL playoffs and the college football BCS games.

3. October – The World Series; NFL season starts taking shape; the colleges are in their conference schedules; NASCAR’s Chase.

4. March – (see above).

5. February – (see above)

6. November – College football rivalries; the NFL; NASCAR’s Chase.

7. December – NFL teams fighting to make playoffs; college conference championship games.

8. September – The start of the football season; MLB battle to make the playoffs.

9. June — (see above)

10. August – The PGA Championship; the PGA Tour “postseason”; football preseason practice.

11. May – The Players; NBA playoffs.

12. July — Go on vacation.
